Jomsom Muktinath trekking is one of the most popular trekking routes in Nepal, this is part of Annapurna Circuit trekking. Jomsom Muktinath trekking follows the old trade route to Tibet along the ridge of Kali Gandaki, between the peaks of Annapurna (8091m) and Mt. Dhaulagiri(8167m) finally emerges to the north of the main Himalayan range, on the arid desert-like Tibetan Plateau. Jomsom Muktinath trekking further takes us to the barren beauty of Kagbeni, the entrance of Mustang 'The Forbidden Kingdom' against the backdrop of majestic Himalayas before ascending to the famous pilgrimage site of Muktinath.
The trek of Jomsom Muktinath is the major pilgrimage site, both for Hindus as well as Buddhists. Hindu pilgrims visit Muktinath to pay homage by bathing in the 108 water spouts shaped like cow's heads to purify their bodies before visiting the main Temple for worship and Buddhists devote themselves to a shrine enclosing an eternal blue flame.
Jomsom Muktinath trekking is a magnificent Himalayan view, fabulous Kali Gandaki the deepest gorge in the world with distinctive and prosperous villages of Tukuche, Marpha (2665m), Jharkot, and Jomsom with its medieval Kings Palace and Bonpo Gompa. The village of Marpha is famous for a garden of apples, apricots and peaches sold fresh, dry, and as distilled liquor brandy. Jomsom Sunrise and mountains view from Poonhill, typical Magar village in Ulleri, natural hot spring water at Tatopani, worlds deepest Kali Gandaki gorge, typical Thakali village in Tukuche and Marpha, monasteries in Tukuche, Marpha, Kagbeni, Jharkot and Muktinath, eternal frame in Muktinath, 'Shaligram' the stone of Vishnu available on the Kali Gandaki valley are the main highlights of this trek.
