Makalu trekking is a rigorous walk that takes the world’s 7th highest peak, Mt. Makalu standing at an altitude of 8475m. Makalu trekking is trail winds from the steamy lowlands of Tumlingtar on the Arun River, through one of the least explored areas of Nepal, to the base camp of Makalu at the soaring height of 5000m. Makalu trek follows the beautiful Barun river valley in the Makalu Barun National Park, ascending through Sherpa villages and cultivated fields with views of the Chamlang Range in the distance and walking up the lush and beautiful Arun valley before crossing the Shipton La (4127 m) through rhododendron forest into the upper Barun river Valley. The Arun Valley is also home to rare species of different Birds found only in Nepal. This fairly challenging trek is best suited for anyone in good shape with previous trekking experience is an added benefit.
